Another life.

I am almost a civilian!!!!
I wear a tie and talk to people about how to make money. I made a couple of small deals last week and I hope I get better because there is a lot of money to be made out there. It is strange to work on the weekends and finding out that we get paid extra!!!! It is strange to hear people telling the boss "Nope, I am not doing that because that is NOT my job." There are about three retired military working with the same company and they tell me that it will take a while to get into the civilian mentality. I am just happy that I have a job and it pays well. My wife is NOT too happy because it is a sales job and it doesn't pay what she thinks I should get paid. She wants to have a better life than the one the Army gave us. She doesn't want me to work as hard for money. But I am just happy I found a job three months before I am officially retired and I am also ready to use everything I learned for the last 20 years. I hope that money doesn't become my mistress!!!!
The bad dreams are coming back. A few nights ago I woke up trying to wipe blood and guts off my body. I just remember dreaming about Iraq and next thing I know I am awake and trying to wipe a bunch of body parts from a suicide bomber off my body. I am also experiencing some mood swings from happy to depressed, why I am laughing if my friends are dead?
My new house is great. We moved this last weekend and my wife about to kill me because I was working and helped her just a little bit. SHE MOVED, with the help of a couple friend, THE WHOLE FREAKING HOUSE BY HERSELF!!!!!!!!! Today is Memorial day and I will let her sleep as long as she wants. I told her that I was going to help her move this weekend when I didn't have to work but she couldn't wait, so she did it and now she is sleeping it off.

TODAY IS MY LAST DUTY DAY!!!!!

Today is my last duty day in the United States Army. Right now I am the Staff Duty and just sit here and wait for something to happen. I will retired in a few months and I am being presented with a handshake next week.
I also have a new job. I will be working in a radio station selling air time to local vendors. I will also help as DJ, production, and other jobs to help it get it off the ground.
I am leaving the only thing that I have done for the last 20 years. I am happy, excited and afraid that there will not be life after I get out of the big green machine.
I wanted to work in the defense industry, I felt like going back to Iraq because I sure as hell miss getting shot, and I miss the explosions. So in a job fair I saw this booth with an Anglo Saxon asking if anybody spoke Spanish. I said that I did and he asked for my resume. A couple days later I was thinking about it and decided to give him a call. A few hours later I had an interview and five minutes into it I was offered the job. It is strange where life takes you.
I will tell you how good or how bad the job is.
